Mama T on Abortion

Each one of us is here today because we have been loved by God who created us and our parents who accepted and cared enough to give us life. Life is the most beautiful gift of God. That is why it is so painful to see what is happening today in so many places around the world; life being deliberately destroyed by war, by violence, by abortion.

Let me tell you something: If you feel the weight of your sins, do not be afraid! He is a loving Father; God’s mercy is much greater than we can imagine.
By abortion, the mother kills even her own child to solve her problems. And, by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion leads to abortion.  Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love but to use violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.

“First Right” Update

Where we are now. It’s time for a quick update concerning the documentary. At this time I am working on the clarifying the concept, writing an outline and budget, talking with  grant writers and creating grant proposals.  Next step, applying for grants. Lots of work and tedium. Truthfully at this very moment I am recovering from the worst bout of Texas variety cedar fever I have ever had. This is the 4th week, and hopefully the last! After a brief rest I will proceed as planned. Please keep us and the project in your prayers, and everyone working against the pro-death camps and for the babies.

A New Psalm

Oh my dearest loving Father! My heart cries out in ecstasy of knowing that I am your own! You did not turn away or ignore me when I stood shaking  in the cold dark desert, and soaked in agony cried out to you with a terrible sound from my mouth like dying, like the last soul left on earth on the last day. I could no longer offer my suffering for souls and sinners, as I had become the suffering. With great effort my plea of last resort soared through the dark sky, an arrow, until it reached the third heaven and your ever listening ears. It touched the great outer light surrounding your magnificence and turned into gold. Then, with tender care and mercy you sent back my anguished prayer with your answer and your perfect love. My arrow returned to me full of love and light and pierced and warmed and regenerated my dying heart. Your great mystery manifested itself to me here on the earth and the the gift of yourself illumined the dark recesses full of devouring demons, and they turned tail and ran away. You in your greatness came to me and held me in your arms like a baby. You stroked my face and comforted me. Like a ballast in the storm you stood beside me, and when I realized your great mercy a long absent smile lit my face. I had reached up to you with all my might and you reached back from heaven  to soothe my aching soul, and gifted me with the balm of solace.  Awe and joy washed over me as I experienced you, the great weaver of our lives, in this way. Your arms cuddled my shoulders grown cold, warming them and giving me strength. You took me to your Holy House and showed me your beauty and safety. A miracle just for me. Out of all the poor broken hearts calling out to you today, you answered my heart’s cry. Why? Perhaps because you know I will always be faithful and never be at rest or peace until I reach you?

Lord, everything you said is true, and you do not abandon your children!

Angel Song

An Episcopal priest who had been deeply touched by a visit to the Holy Land and to Bethlehem in 1865, wrote the words to “Oh Little Town of Bethlehem” three years later.  He asked his organist to write music for it to perform at Christmas service. The organist could not come up with a melody, try as he might. The night before it was to be performed at church, he fell asleep and in the night was awakened by angelic voices singing a heavenly melody. He jumped from bed and ran to quickly write what he heard. Because of the heavenly angels, this beautiful song exists as it does today.

Sometimes we think we are to do things in our own time, by our own steam and we get sidetracked. Waylaid. We need to remember how thin the veil is, and to ask and wait for  heavenly help from above. Never doubt that God knows your every need. Pray, wait, listen.

Advent Personhood

Tonight I found myself pondering, what if Mary had not said “yes’? What if Jesus had never been born?

Or Ghandi.

Or Mother Teresa.

Or any number of other wonderful precious regular folks born into lowly or difficult circumstances, who overcame and made a difference in this world, big or small.

What about you? Just you. Remember when you stopped and gave that homeless guy five bucks, caused him to smile and renewed his hope? Or the time you drove for hours to stay with a friend who was in a very dark place, until she could see daylight again? Or asked your friend if she needed anything when she was ill?

Just like Bob Crachit and Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol” or George Bailey in “It’s a Wonderful Life”, what if YOU hadn’t been there? You may have thought through this before, or not, but what if the only reason we were born was to do something good for one person or touch someone’s life? To be a thread in the tapestry at that moment and add to the whole good, a little touch of light in the world?

Rooster In The City

To hear a rooster crow in the city is out of place. It doesn’t fit in the normal everyday background hustle and bustle. As urban dwellers we are immune to the buzz and drone of city life. But his sharp throaty cry causes our ears to prick up and  think, what was that? In the auditory landscape it unsettles, even grates because it just doesn’t blend. It can be a lonely, isolated noise,  strong and insistent.  Some don’t know the noble cockerel sometimes makes the same clucking noises as a hen as well, leading the other chickens to food.  He does what he was born to and natural for him, and can be heard from a long way off. In case people have fallen back asleep after turning off the alarm clock, his clear piercing call wakes them up again, and they are usually grateful.

Sometimes we need to be woken up again. We need someone to come along, clear the brush away and point to the  grass growing underneath. We need to be startled out of our routine and gather our integrity back from where it spread out to make itself comfortable.

Dreams and Clydesdales

Last night I dreamed I was somewhere with Dr. Alveda King, niece of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, and we were in a restaurant. It was dim inside and other African American people were with us. They were meeting around a table with a curved booth seating arrangement.  No food was on the table. Instead lots of Silent No More brochures were laid out on half the seat in stacks. I was choosing some to take and distribute and Alveda was speaking to me, affirming my plan. We were working together and it felt natural and comfortable. We are in a sense working together, and I think I dreamed about her because I received a very positive  message from someone about her yesterday night.

This week is about contacting a grant writer from my church, cleaning house, creating an outline, cleaning house, developing more film, cleaning house, and working on this site, and cleaning house!  ( Lord sure knows how to keep us humble! ) Some good news to share!. There exists in the world an editing program that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and I have been assured of it’s quality from two persons in the field. Learning the process a different matter.

Feeling a bit stuck in mud and spinning my wheels on the creative end. “Straining at the bit.” I want to race onward like a three year old quarter horse on the beach,  but plod along like a Clydesdale in deep snow. The Lord will provide, and just like jockey with a racehorse is pacing me for a reason. Jesus I trust in you!
